Influencer marketing for electronics and technology

In electronics it is not the spec sheet that decides, it is whether a device holds up in everyday use the way the data sheet claims.

An audience that checks

Hardly any category is researched as intensively as technology. Buyers read tests, compare data sheets and instantly notice when a post merely retells the marketing slides. Only what can be verified works here: a measurement, a comparison under identical conditions, a device after four weeks of use. For retailers with Turkish-speaking customers there is a second point that gets overlooked. A considerable share of the purchase decision is made within the family, frequently by the person who knows technology best and decides on behalf of others. That person reads more carefully, asks more critically and then recommends for several households at once. Convincing them means selling not once but repeatedly.

Formats that work in technology

01

Testing under everyday conditions

Battery life across a normal working day, camera in poor light, volume in a real kitchen. These details decide more often than any figure from the data sheet and are hard to argue with.

02

A direct comparison of two devices

Two models side by side under identical conditions answer the real purchase question. Stating the conditions matters, otherwise the comparison gets taken apart in the comments.

03

Setup and first start

Many returns happen because a device could not be set up. A video showing the first start reduces returns and simultaneously relieves customer service.

04

Accessories and running costs

What is additionally needed and what a device costs to run is rarely communicated. These posts create trust because they work against the short-term sales impulse.

05

Showing service and repair

For bricks-and-mortar retail, service is the argument against a pure online price. Posts about repair, warranty handling and advice make exactly that difference visible.

How a campaign runs

  1. 01

    Clarify the goal

Audience, region and the next measurable step.

  2. 02

    Select creators

Proposals with real figures instead of gut feeling.

  3. 03

    Deliver

Briefing, production, approval and publication with a clear plan of responsibility.

  4. 04

    Evaluate

Reach, engagement and enquiries in the report. Learnings go into the next campaign.

Which creator profile fits technology

  • Profiles with a traceable test method

What counts is not reach but whether conditions are stated and measurements are repeatable. A profile without a method loses credibility instantly in this category.

  • Everyday profiles for household appliances

Not every category needs a tech profile. For household appliances someone who genuinely uses the device daily convinces more than a pure tech format with measurements.

  • Creators who name weaknesses

A post without a single criticism is classified as paid advertising by this audience and devalued accordingly. Profiles that name drawbacks paradoxically generate more purchases.

What we measure in electronics

Sales by model and source

Because campaigns usually concern individual devices, we evaluate by model. A good overall figure otherwise hides that only one article carried it.

Return rate per post

If it rises after a campaign, a device was positioned wrongly or presented in exaggerated terms. That figure decides whether an asset keeps running.

Customer service enquiries

Where the same questions pile up, information is missing from the post. That can be fixed with a short follow-up and permanently lowers the service load.

Share of accessory sales

Accessories carry a considerable part of the margin in this category. Campaigns that include them are often more profitable even where revenue looks the same.

Energy labelling, warranty and prices

Electronics is one of the categories with concrete mandatory information in advertising. Those duties fall on the retailer and are taken from the product data before production.

Communicating energy efficiency
For many product groups, visual advertising that names a price also has to show the energy efficiency class and the range of the scale. A post with a price and without that information is open to challenge.
Separating warranty and statutory rights
Statutory rights arise by law, a warranty is voluntary and carries its own conditions. Mixing the two in a video creates expectations that lead to disputes when something is returned.
Prices and promotional periods
Prices named have to be final prices, and for a price reduction the lowest price of the previous thirty days is the reference. Because electronics prices change often, we keep specific figures out of long-lived posts.

Note: general orientation, not legal advice. Product, energy and price information remains the retailer's responsibility and is supplied before production starts.

When we advise against it

The device is only briefly available

For very short promotional windows the effort for production and approval is rarely covered. Posts about categories and advice that run for months make more sense.

Price is the only advantage

Advertising purely on price loses against large online retailers and additionally risks mistakes in price advertising. Service and advice are the more durable arguments.

Common questions about electronics campaigns

Does the energy class really belong in the post?

As soon as visual advertising for an affected device names a price, the efficiency class and the scale range belong with it. We usually avoid the problem by keeping specific prices out of the video and moving them to the product page.

Is this worth it for bricks-and-mortar retail?

Yes, but not through price advertising. A shop's advantage lies in advice, setup and repair, and a pure online retailer cannot reflect that. These posts also keep working for months.

Should creators be allowed to keep test devices?

That is common but makes the post subject to disclosure in any case, even without a payment. We record scope and return in writing beforehand so there is no later argument about the value of the consideration.

The legal notes are general orientation and do not replace legal advice. Formats and metrics describe how we work; they are not performance promises or evidence of previous OzyCore campaigns. Status: August 2026.
